ご挨拶

環境学の分野は、国際的・地球規模で進化する政策や緩和策、新たな問題解決手法の構築とともに、急速に拡大・発展を続けています。この分野の研究者には、最新の知識のみならず、研究スキルの更新や、他分野やセクターに対する常に開かれた研究姿勢を持っていることが必要です。

APUの3学部にはそれぞれ、環境学の様々な領域において優れた研究活動を展開する研究者が在籍しています。環境学研究センター（ESC）は、環境問題に関する知的交流を学部横断的に推進していきます。環境問題は、APUが掲げる「平和と人間性」の実現に向けても、世界が直面する最も困難な課題の一つです。国連難民高等弁務官事務所（UNHCR）によれば、世界中で移動や移民を余儀なくされている人々の持つ背景には、気候変動、自然災害、資源不足に起因する紛争が存在していることも分かっています。

私たちは、異なる学問分野やセクターの知見を結集し、互いに学び合いながら、人類が直面する深刻な課題から「escape（脱出）」するために力を合わせてまいります。

当センターの目的

1. 研究コミュニティの形成と教員の研究力向上

知識とアイデアが活発に行き交う、協働的な研究コミュニティを築くこと。

2. アウトリーチ活動の実施

APU で行われている環境学研究を、より広い社会に向けて発信すること。

3. 社会貢献活動の実施

APU に蓄積された専門性を活かし、外部組織（地方自治体、国の機関、NPO など）のニーズに応えること。

4. 学生の成長支援

大学院生を中心に、学内で生まれる多様で刺激的なアイデアに触れられる機会を提供すること。

5. 学際的プロジェクトの創出

共同研究の芽となるアイデアを発掘し、外部資金などを活用して実現へと育てていくこと。
