Mr. MITARAI Fujio, President and CEO of Canon Inc., was the guest speaker for the 7th Top Executive Lecture on Wednesday, June 16. Some 1000 students and community members attended his presentation, entitled “Canon's Corporate Strategies”.
Mr. Mitarai is a native of Oita Prefecture and a member of the APU Advisory Committee.
The presentation outlined how globalization and diversification were the key management strategies employed by Canon to become a world-class corporation. “The world increasingly needs individuals who can function as full-fledged members of the global community: people who can skillfully overlay foreign knowledge and values onto their own cultural mores,” said Mr. Mitarai. “Here at APU, you have an amazing opportunity to learn about the world. I hope that you will use what you learn here to become world citizens and leaders of the 21st century.” |
