In September 2007, APU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in order to promote mutual cooperation in supporting industry activities, and research and education in tourism and hospitality management in the Asian Pacific region.
With over 150 member countries, the UNWTO is the world's largest international tourist organization. As a specialized agency of the United Nations, it aims to promote development and vitality in the tourism industry. APU is the first Japanese further education institute to sign an MOU with the World Tourism Organization.
In addition, APU concluded a cooperation agreement with Oita Bank Ltd. and Oita Broadcasting Company Ltd. (OBS) in July and August respectively.
The agreement with Oita Bank was forged to enhance a mutual partnership, and to strike up collaboration and cooperation between the two parties through the sharing of regional information and technical know-how.
An 'Academic Exchange' agreement was signed between APU, the APU Confucius Institute and OBS, and through mutual collaboration and cooperation in the fields of academic research and education, various activities such as the establishment of language courses for local citizens are being carried out. |
