On Sunday, April 23, 2006, the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific Symphony Orchestra held their 1st Regular Concert in the APU Millennium Hall. The orchestra was established in October last year.
Members of the APU Symphony were joined by 40 guest musicians from the Oita University Medical School Orchestra and from Oita Prefecture. Approximately 400 people listened attentively to the beautiful rendition of Mozart's "The Impresario Overture" led by conductor Mr. SHIMADA Koichi (Ritsumeikan University graduate).
After a delightful performance of Dvorak's Symphony No.9, "From the New World," the audience erupted into a large round of applause and the curtains fell on a hugely successful concert.
After the performance, OTSUKA Ayano (APS 1, Japan) commented: "It is great to be a part of the makings of a student symphony orchestra that instigates community exchange and draws on the many vibrant aspects of APU." |
