The "ERIA/JENESYS Next Leaders Scholarship Program" is a Japanese government human resource development program and is for students from ASEAN countries. APU was the only university in Kyushu chosen on the Japan side. The other three were the University of Tokyo, Waseda University and the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies.

  spaceExplanation of the organization - the "ERIA/JENESYS Next Leaders Scholarship Program" is part of the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youth (JENESYS) Program in which the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) provides scholarships for students from the 10 various ASEAN countries.

2. Purpose of the program
  spaceThe purpose of this program is to nurture students who can contribute to the economic development and the narrowing of developmental gaps in East Asia. Scholarship recipients are selected from amongst students majoring in the humanitarian or social science subjects such as the economic integration of East Asia and issues relating to the wider global society. It provides students with the financial support they need to allow them to study in a stable situation including transportation, tuition fees and living expenses.

3. What can be expected of
students in this program
  spaceScholarship recipients will spend their time studying at one of the graduate schools of the four universities selected for this program, either researching about the East Asian region or on an internship at the ERIA Secretariat during their holiday break. Through this they will build up the experience needed as the future leaders of their countries and are expected to make a contribution to the future economic development of East Asia.

4. The type of people
this program is looking for
  spaceThis scholarship program is for ASEAN country citizens (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam). Also, applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree or have academic ability equal or superior to that of Bachelor's Degree. Applicants are also required to have a high level of English ability.



spaceThis ERIA/JENESYS Next Leaders Program is be a very good opportunity for students who want to study in Japan and work for the development of the East Asia region. From April 2009, the "College of Asia Pacific Management" made a new start as the "College of International Management". In accordance with this, the Japanese degree title has been changed. However, the English title will remain the same "Bachelor of Business Administration".
