Writing Senior Thesis as the Culmination of the Four-year study

As the culmination of their four-year study at APU, students prepare and present a senior thesis at both intermediate and final presentations. The senior thesis should reflecct all that they have learned in lectures, seminars, overseas universities, and internship. With regards to themes, students should select a theme from among issues related to finance and accounting, production and marketing, human resource management, and economic policies. In principle, students should develop the same theme that they have chosen for their "case study".

In "Research Seminar", the faculty member offers guidance for preparing a senior thesis. Following the intermediate presentation, students have class discussions about the theme of the thesis. After finalizing their thesis, students should submit the paper, and deliver it at the final presentation, which is followed by a Q & A session.

In preparing a thoroughly-researched paper, students are encouraged to reflect the results of discussions with other students, as well as guidance offered by the faculty members.

Writing a Consistent Paper by Developing a Case

Writing a senior thesis should differ from preparing reports and cases in that students should develop their views and opinions, and express their interpretations and evaluation regarding their study and survey results. Since opinions, interpretations, and evaluations are expressed as the conclusion of the senior thesis, students should state their ideas in llogical order; every passage leading to the conclusion should have logical consistency.

Writing a senior thesis is a time-consuming and tedious task, since you should refer to many acedemic documents and technical materials. You must also prepare footnotes and a list of references. When you have completed the thesis, however, you will experience an exceptional feeling of relief and self-pride that you have accomplished a great task.
