| The Contemporary Asia Pacific: Focus On Business |
●Studying Diversity and Dynamic Development
of the Asia Pacific Region
This seminar subject deals with various
problems related to the economies and enterprises
in the Asia Pacific region, promoting students'
understanding on the diversity of this region,
which is the most outstanding characteristic
of the Asia Pacific region. Morever, the
seminar is intended to deepen students' understanding
on mutual dependency and dynamic development
of the economies in this region. Through
these studies, students are expected to think
deeply about sustainable development and
coexistance of various economies in this
region.
●Studying though the "Peer Group"
System
In this seminar, a class, comprised of
20 students, is divided into several "peer
groups", each comprised of two Japanese/permanent
resident students and two international students.
Using textbooks and video materials, each
group discusses various issues related to
the subject, and prepares presentations.
Study results may be summarized in reports
and presented in the class. Based on the
results of group activities, the entire class
may also have discussions.

The study themes include economics, industries,
markets, finance, production, and distribution
and marketing in the Asia Pacific region.
In addition, Japanese enterprises are studied
in terms of their development processes and
future prospects.
There are two seminars concerning this subject:

Asia Pacific: Focus on Business II."

Pacific: Focus on Business"
Students should purchase the textbook on
this seminar's subjects, the contents of
which correspond to the nine topics listed
in the front page. Since this textbook is
written in both English and Japanese, students
can read it in whichever language they prefer.
To evaluate the degree of students'
understanding,
each chapter of this textbook
is followed
by a list of questions and topics
for further
study. The latter can be used
as topicsfor
group discussions.

Membes of respective peer groups should get
together regularly at "communication
times" and other occasions, as well
as during classes. Students aare encouraged
