On the weekend of December 8 and 9, 2012, sixteen members of HABITAT APU took part in a joint training camp with eight HABITAT student organizations from six universities in the Kansai area. HABITAT APU is a student organization involved in volunteer housing construction projects around the world. Involving approximately 200 participants, the training camp offered students the opportunity to report on the results of their overseas support programs over the summer and to discus issues such as poverty and the Tohoku reconstruction process. Posters were displayed introducing each group’s volunteer projects including HABITAT APU’s picture-book project and Charinko Purezen – a donation appeal and bicycle tour. HABITAT APU representative, TAKEMOTO Ryuji (APS2, Japan) commented on the camp: “Most of the participating groups had new representatives, so this was a good opportunity for me to get a better overall view of HABITAT APU. I look forward to sharing what we learnt with fellow circle members”.
