On Saturday, October 27, 2012, three APU students took part in the 5th Korean Speech Contest for High School and University Students held at Fukuoka International University. HU Qiongfang (APM4, China) and KAKUMOTO Emi (APM1, Japan) won the Excellence and Incentive Awards respectively.
We spoke to the prize winners:
HU Qiongfang (APM4, China)
“I wanted to create a lasting memory of learning Korean at APU and decided to enter the contest. My teacher, Ms. HWANG, helped me with my pronunciation and delivery skills and I received a lot of support on the day of the contest from my Korean housemates. I felt very fortunate to have this kind of support. Having seen the level of Korean proficiency of other contestants, I feel that I still have some way to go. I hope to continue studying the language in the future and also maintain my links with Korea.
KAKUMOTO Emi (APM1, Japan)
“I am truly thankful to have been given the opportunity to enter this contest. With the support and guidance of my teacher who also introduced me to the contest, Ms. HWANG, and my fellow contestants from APU, I was able to compete with highly able contestants from other schools. This was a very enjoyable experience for me”.
