The first Seminar of Indonesia will welcome prominent scholars of Indonesian Studies from Indonesia and Japan to deliver a seminar in APU to elaborate contemporary Indonesia and its way on becoming one of the largest democratic countries in the world. Dr. Ken Soetanto, professor from Waseda University will deliver a keynote speech about the current situation of education in Indonesia. Okamoto Masaaki, associate professor from Kyoto University and Nurchasanah Ogata, associate professor from Kyushu International University will be speaking in a panel discussion about Indonesia's political dynamics and also on the current development of gender issues.
A keynote speech will be delivered by Professor Ken Soetanto, who is well known for having four PhDs in different fields (Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Pedagogy) from world-class academic institutions in Japan (Tokyo University of Agricultural and Technology, Tohoku University, Science University of Tokyo, and Waseda University). He also invented the Soetanto Effect, which is his own original education methodology to enhance students' motivation to learn.
A panel discussion will be conducted by two experts on Indonesia from Japan. The first speaker will be Professor Okamoto Masaaki, who has conducted extended research on the growth of local politics in Indonesia. The second speaker is Nurchasanah Ogata, who has high mileage travelling to various places in Indonesia to discover the advent of gender related issues in Indonesia.
