1.Call for Presenters

The International Association for Asia Pacific Studies (IAAPS) would like to inform you about a Call for Presenters (both panels and individual presentations) for the 4th IAAPS Annual Conference, which will be hosted by the Yuchengco Center, De La Salle University in November this year.

The Asia-Pacific region is undergoing enormous change as the economies of East Asia continue to grow. Part and parcel of this change are a global rebalancing of the economic, political and social-cultural structures in which not only capital and trade flow freely through the region but information, goods and services. Their implications are wide and far reaching in terms of issues, programs and policies. Questions that loom large are:

  • What are the geo-political consequences of growing regionalism in the Asia-Pacific region?
  • What are the social, political and economic issues emanating from the paradigm shift toward regionalism?
  • Who are the key players and what interactive linkages within and outside the region are expected to be forged as a result of this transformation?
  • How will this regionalism mode impact on interest and vulnerable groups? What are the prospects of their involvement in participatory regional development?

The IAAPS 2013 annual conference will address these above questions and many more through the conference theme of “Inclusive and Sustainable Growth in the Asia Pacific: Regional and National Policy and Programmatic Challenges.” We are looking for panels and individual theoretical or empirical papers that will provide insights on specific challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the region. Interdisciplinary panels are most welcome as issues are discussed from the disciplines of international relations, sociology, anthropology, history, music, literature, finance, economics, politics, linguistics, science, non-traditional security, human security, demography, health, aging, geography and related concerns.
