To All Students : 【IMPORTANT】Procedures for Conducting Research Overseas
Posted by eoo61761 on 2010/12/17 13:40:00 (933 reads)

October 2010

To All Graduate Students:

From FA2010 those planning to leave the University for field research for an extended period (1 month or more) without taking a Leave of Absence, must inform the Academic Office of your Report on Activities Outside APU after receiving approval from your supervisor.
The reasons for this new requirement are as follows:

1. For the management of your student visa, the Japan Immigration Bureau, Student Office and Academic Office must be informed of your academic progress each semester. However, if a student is not attending classes and/or is away from the university for an extended period, the university has no confirmation or proof of status as a student. The Report on Activities Outside APU may be used in this case to prove your status as a student.
2. In case of emergency or natural disaster abroad, the university will be able to quickly confirm the safety of its students.
Note: In case of Leave of Absence, procedures must be conducted in advance at the Student Support Center.

Those who plan to leave the university for an extended period (for field research, etc.) should complete the Report on Activities Outside APU for submission to the Academic Office prior to departure*. This form may be downloaded from the Graduate Homepage.
http://www.apu.ac.jp/gradinfo/modules ... endedActivitiesReport.doc

*Activities must be approved by the supervisor before reporting to the Academic Office.
*GSM students who do not have a supervisor (1st semester Fall entrants, 1st/2nd semester Spring entrants) should receive approval from the Dean. In other cases where the supervisor is undecided, please consult with the Academic Office.

This is a reminder that graduate facilities in Building B cannot be used outside hours of operation. Those who wish to use such facilities as the Cyber Study Room, etc. outside hours of operation must submit a "Request for Special Permission for Night/Non-class Day Usage" application at least 2 business days prior to use.

For further details on hours of operation for graduate facilities can be found in the Graduate Handbook: /gradinfoo/modules/gradinfoo/content/GradHdbk.SP2010-Sec5.pdf

To All Students : Update Your Current Address
Posted by eoo61761 on 2010/5/17 10:31:29 (1245 reads)

Have you updated your current address?

All students are required to update the current address they have registered at APU, via the online Registration Support System.
Failure to update your address will result in loss of important
information from APU. Students should update their current address any time there is change (study abroad, apartment change, etc.).

Please see this page on how to update your current address.

After updating your address online, please submit a printed copy of
your confirmation screen and submit this to the Student Office.

Those who do not update their current address will have all contact -
including your tuition billing statement - sent any previous address
you have registered at APU.
There have been some cases in which International students were unable to pay their tuition on time, because tuition statements were being sent to their home address abroad. Problems like this can lead to severe academic penalties.

All students are reminded to update their current address as soon as
possible, as tuition statements are scheduled to be mailed soon.
For any questions or concerns regarding this process, please contact
the Student Office.
