College of International Management (APM)

APM is an acronym for Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University College of International Management, one of the two undergraduate colleges at APU. The aim of APM is to foster human resources who will take business in the Asia Pacific region to new levels. After four-years of study, successful APM graduates are awarded a bachelor's degree in business administration.

APM Study Content

International management composes the foundation of major education in the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University College of International Management. Economic globalization and technological innovation, particularly in the IT sector, are giving rise to fundamental changes in the nature of corporate management. The study of international management involves perceiving and developing solutions to such change. Once students grasp the basics of international management theory, they go on to further study management topics divided into four courses.

APM Areas of Study (2011 AY Curriculum)

Based on a wide-ranging understanding of the diverse societies, cultures and traditions of the Asia Pacific, APU has established the following 4 areas of study  in order to develop students with values and social awareness geared toward creating new businesses and to cultivate human resources with the drive and creativity to succeed in the dynamic world of business in Asia. Students who complete 30 or more credits from a specific Area of Study, Core Subjects or Seminar subjects will also receive the Area of Study on their diploma.

Accounting & Finance Course

The health of corporate activity is judged by the ebb and flow of money. This is called Accounting and it is a field that required advanced specialization. Finance is the field concerned with raising and managing the funds necessary for corporate activity. This course is for students who wish to develop a specialization in Accounting and Finance.

Marketing Course

In this course, students will learn how to provide products and services to the market. In particular, studies will focus on how much of something to provide at what cost and with the best possible method. This course aims to develop experts who can link the production phase to final consumers, and is geared toward students who wish to become active, globally-oriented businesspersons.

Strategic Management & Organization Course

To ensure their lasting development, organizations must set goals that are beneficial to society. To achieve those goals, the people in those organizations must engage in activities according to basic principles and methods. This course is geared toward students who wish to make a contribution to a company or take over a family business.

Innovation & Economics Course

Innovation and efficient production control are the driving forces of corporate growth. In this course, students will learn what generates innovation and what efficient production control entails. Students will also learn about the economic foundations that underlie these concepts and about economic development as the end product of corporate development. This course targets students who wish to contribute to national development as businesspersons or as policymakers.
